Tracking corporate visits to your website.

Google Analytics has a report called “Connection Speeds” which sits under Google Analytics>Visitors>Network Properties>Connection Speed.

The information is obtained by Google checking the IP address of the visitor and cross referencing it with a 3rd party database of known Internet Service Provider’s IP address ranges. GA can then make a fair assumption about which visits are coming from consumer connections like DSL or, here’s the really interesting bit, corporate organizations.

By selecting (drilling-down)  on the “T1” (which is a high speed connection, http://computer.howstuffworks.com/question372.htm ) entry and then cross segmenting by “Service Provider” you should be looking at all the corporate organisations that have visited your site in the date range you’ve specified.

This can be really useful for your corporate sales team to know, as perhaps it will help them target the most relevant organisations when deciding on sales telephone calls….
